Disc Two (55:26)
Label : Midnight Beat Venue : Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Recording Date : November 3, 1996 Quality : Soundboard recording (A+) Review : Recorded on a Sunday night in November 1996 at the legendary Paradiso in Amsterdam, this double album captures Sheryl Crow on the road in support of her self-titled second album. The set pairs the new material with the songs that made her name, and the opening run of Hard To Make A Stand, Every Day Is A Winding Road and A Change sets a relaxed, rootsy tone, followed by an early reading of Leaving Las Vegas. Redemption Day brings the first disc to a serious close. The second disc opens with Strong Enough and then builds towards the crowd-pleasing All I Wanna Do, with Sway and The Na-Na Song adding a looser, jam-session feel before Ordinary Morning winds things down. A short radio-style interview is included as a bonus, and the album ends with a second version of If It Makes You Happy, this time recorded at The Late Show with David Letterman in New York on October 22, 1996. A good-sounding souvenir of an artist at her mid-nineties peak in front of an appreciative Dutch audience. |
