Review (Heaven) : Ryan Adams is een eigenzinnige man. Ooit bij een concert in een afgeladen Paradiso stuurt hij zijn band weg om het optreden solo af te sluiten. Meneer is niet tevreden over het geluid en de inzet van de bandleden. Dan heb je ballen. Dat laatste vertoont hij ook iets te veel naar de andere sekse. Zo komt Adams niet ongeschonden uit de #metoo-periode. Het lijkt wel alsof hij daarna aan een voortdurende boetedoening bezig is. Eindeloze solo-optredens over de hele globe. Jaar in, jaar uit en een continue uitstoot van albums. Over het therapeutische heden hebben we het maar niet. Over het verleden des te meer. Zijn debuutalbum Heartbreaker is geniaal. Hij weet er topmuzikanten als Dave Rawlings, Gillian Welch en Emmylou Harris voor te strikken. Vóór Heartbreaker is Adams al de drijvende kracht achter de band Whiskeytown. Lang na de laatste tonen zit ik nog wezenloos voor mij uit te staren op deze lome zomeravond. Traag loop ik naar het dakterras en kijk de heldere nacht in. Daarboven fonkelt een ster en die noem ik Ryan Adams.
