Review (AllMusic) : Compilations titled At the BBC or something similar usually draw from several sessions covering a period of years. This Robert Palmer release, however, is essentially drawn from just one concert, as all but one of the 15 tracks were recorded at London's Hammersmith Palais on May 31, 1983. Predating his breakthrough to international superstardom with "Addicted to Love" and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" by about three years, his set included half-a-dozen songs from his then-current album Pride, along with some older favorites like "Every Kinda People," "Looking for Clues," and "Some Guys Have All the Luck." With very good sound, it's the kind of slick mixture of blue-eyed soul, early-'80s new wave-influenced arrangements, and reggae that Palmer specialized in, often gliding from song to song without pause. There's also a sole bonus track, a rendition of "Johnny and Mary" from the BBC television show Friday Night...Saturday Morning recorded on January 29, 1982.
