Disc One (71:05)
Disc Two (66:17)
Label : no label Venue : Brixton Academy, Brixton, London, UK Date : November 2, 1985 Quality : soundboard recoring (A+) Review : The Deep End was a band Pete organized to raise money for the Double O charity for drug abuse victims. The band played four charity gigs. 2 November was their second show at Brixton and third show overall. Another date was scheduled for Brixton, but was cancelled due to poor ticket sales. 23 January was the band's final show. The first 23 tracks are from the 2 November show. It is the complete 2 November performance, with the exception that the last song 'Night Train' is missing. Highlights of the recording have been broadcast in various media, including the "King Biscuit Flower Hour" and the officialy released album "Pete Townshend's Deep End Live!". David Gilmour sang two of his own songs: 'Love on the Air' and 'Blue Light', while John Bundrick performed 'Midnight Lover'. Note that Pete's introduction of David prior to 'Love On The Air' is exactly the same as his intro for 'Blue Light'. Obviously some creative editing has been performed on the original source. Filler tracks 8-11 from Cannes 1/26/1986, track 12 from the David Letterman show 1993 and track 13 from the David Letterman show 1998. |
