|
Label : Reprise Records / Warner Bros. Released : April 25, 2000 Venue : Bass Concert Hall, Austin, Texas, USA Recording Date : May 27 & 29, 1999 Length : 62 minutes Aspect Ratio : 16:9 Review (AllMusic) : Neil Young's Silver & Gold concert video was recorded at Austin, Texas' Bass Concert Hall during his 1999 solo acoustic tour and spotlights its namesake album, along with a few of his classics. The intimacy of songs like the title track, "Daddy Went Walkin'," "Long May You Run," "Harvest Moon," "Good to See You," and "The Great Divide" is heightened by the solo live setting, and presented beautifully in widescreen format. While Young's performance is rewarding enough for any fan, one of the disc's drawbacks is its lack of special features inherent to DVD. However, Silver & Gold is more than worthwhile for fan's of Young's mature, accomplished body of work.
