Review (The Basic Trader) : I got this source in October 1988 from a well-connected trader who also happened to to be a friend of mine. My friend got his copy from an individual who somehow got his hands on a pristine soundboard of the this show. However, when he made the copy for my friend, he high speed dubbed from the original source, and used crappy tapes (remember those day-glo Memorex's?). When my friend tried to get him to make another copy, this individual refused. So what we were left with was a blemished copy of a soundboard of a full Bluenotes show. However, this is still a quality item. And as far as I know, there aren't any other soundboards of a full Bluenotes show. The sound is upfront, but somewhat muted. You can almost hear that perfect soundboard trying to get out but it never quite happens. The high end is just too flat, and the bass a little too dull, and sometimes it crackles. Nevertheless, the recording is pretty powerfull. The horns on "Ordinary People" will blast right out of your speakers. Enjoy!
