MARC JORDAN : CRUCIFIX IN DREAMLAND |

Label : EMI Release Date : 2010 Length : 63:13 Review (Amazon) : There is no songwriter working to day that has the breadth of talent Marc Jordan has. Whether he's mining his jazz influences on records like "This Is How Men Cry" or "Make Believe Ballroom", or working in a more pop music idiom like this record, I can think of no songwriter who can so effortlessly blend genres into a truly original vision. This is simply a great record...Opens with two quiet ballads, the title track and "Was It All Just In My Head" and what follows are some truly wonderful songs, such as the jangly pop music of "Raspberry Rain" (with DALA's chiming background vocals) or the slightly funky "Geronimo's Fire", the exotic "Bamboo Girl". Terrific record, beautifully recorded, with lots of ace session players out of Nashville and guest appearances by Timmy Schmitt, Allison Krauss, and Ron Sexsmith among many guests...highly recommended. |
