Review : A superb stereo soundboard of Genesis' December 1, 1983 show at the Civic Centre in Hartford, taped during the same "North America #1" leg of the Mama Tour that also produced the well-regarded Philadelphia and Pittsburgh soundboards. Remarkably, not even an audience tape of this concert had ever circulated before, making this recording a genuine first-time discovery straight from the mixing desk. The raw, unprocessed PA feed gives the performance an unusually direct and separated sound, with every instrument cutting through with striking clarity. Unlike some other releases from this recent wave of soundboard finds, no patching from an audience source was needed here, resulting in a fully consistent soundboard recording across both discs. Running roughly two and a half hours, the show is also considerably longer than the official "The Mama Tour" video release, making this one of the most complete documents of the tour available.
