Review (AllMusic) : Eagles appeared to be finished after the 2016 death of Glenn Frey - Don Henley said some words to that effect that year - but in 2017, Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit revived the band with Vince Gill and Glenn's son Deacon taking Glenn's place. After playing a pair of festivals in 2017, the group went on tour in 2018, a jaunt that included a three-night stop at the Forum in Los Angeles. Highlights of these shows were assembled as the concert film and album Live from the Forum MMXVIII, a double-disc 2020 album. Glenn Frey may be missed, but Deacon and Gill are pros who smooth over the founding Frey's absence; Deacon sounds sturdy on Glenn's songs, while it's quite nice to hear Gill's 1992 hit "Don't Let Our Love Start Slippin' Away" in this set list. "Don't Let Our Love Start Slippin' Away" is the main surprise in an album that delivers familiar songs in expected fashion, but the real noteworthy thing about Live from the Forum MMXVIII is how the surviving Eagles don't seem crass carrying on without Frey. Instead, they seem to be gaining sustenance from their interplay and the songs they've played many times over the decades.

Review (TotalNTertainment) : With the passing of Glenn Frey in 2016, some might wonder whether The Eagles may ever fly quite as high as they once did. However, if there is one thing Live From The Forum MMXVIII proves it is that you can't stop the best, pulling out the best in times of trouble. Recorded live at The Forum in Inglewood, California,Frey's son Deacon and Pure Prairie League multi-instrumentalist Vince Gill joined Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmitt on what can only be described as an explosion of superbly delivered nostalgia, musicianship and respect. The collection comes across two CDs and comprises of twenty-six classic Eagles numbers that are performed with finesse and gusto, along with an undimmed passion that's illustrated by how fresh each of the singer's voices sound despite their ages. As is traditional with Eagles concerts, the close harmonies of the Steve Young penned Seven Bridges Road kick proceedings off in grand style, with the band's first single Take It Easy close on its heels. The set list is full of classics. Take It Easy, Take It to the Limit, a delicious version of Desperado, Lyin' Eyes as well as The Boys of Summer from Henley as well as Walsh getting to rock out to Walk Away, Life's Been Good and have fun with Funk #49. The stand out of this tour was the fact that Glenn Frey wasn't on it. Gill and Deacon sit in for the songs he made iconic and where they fail to deliver the resonance, they more than make up with in the manner in which they perform. Nobody is ever anybody else and to ask them to be so is as disrespectful as it is absurd. With The Long Run closing proceedings, it is fitting to remember that if ever there has been a band that has been in for this very reason it is The Eagles and that, at the end of their journey, we should be grateful for this.

'Live From The Forum MMXVIII' bevat live performances van de band hun meest iconische hits zoals 'Hotel California', 'Take It Easy', 'Life In The Fast Lane' en 'Desperado'.
