Review (Bob's Boots) : The Gospel shows are some of my personal favorites. Dylan is alive and well and once again has interest in and purpose behind his performance. Thinman continues with yet another release of a Gospel era concert, and this one is perhaps the best quality of all. As for the aesthetics, they are still a bit over the top, but the sound of this Earls Court audience recording rivals the best tape I've ever heard. There are many highlights here including rare appearances of Mary From The Wild Moor and All Along The Watchtower, and the debut of In The Summertime. Other highlights are a beautiful Simple Twist Of Fate, and of course, Dylan talking to the audience. This show has been in the hands of a few tape traders since soon after the performance, but this is the first commercial release of the entire, although slightly edited Dylan portion of the concert. Missing are the gospel songs that The Queens Of Rhythm open the show with, and there are a couple of in between song splices. The show was professionally recorded by Dylan's touring sound crew, but that tape has never surfaced. There is a slight cover discrepancy as to the placement of Dead Man on the back cover, as the cover information was taken from volume four of Olof's Files. The correct play order appears above.
