Review (Bob's Boots) : The cat has opted for European tour posters to put on the cover of this, the first of hopefully a new batch of releases. A lovely 8 page booklet with photos and a fan review are included. Each is silk-screened, with a different picture of Bob behind the piano. The overall sound quality of the recording is what has generally become expected of this label... and it is superb! The package is as beautiful as any CC release... However, the performance is only average, and maybe even a bit of a let down compared to the aesthetics and an otherwise perfect package. So... this might not be one to get too excited about..... For instance... Boots of Spanish Leather spirals into a cacophony of out of tune guitar playing towards the end, and makes for a most unlistenable mess with Dylan completely lost in another 'gear-shift' of his own somewhere. On the other hand, Every Grain of Sand is the highlight of the concert... and quite possibly the entire tour. Bob stretches the vocals towards the second half of the song "brooooooooooken mirror of innocence", on eeeeeeeeeeeeach forgotten face", like the moooooooooooootion of the sea ..." etc ... and actually, he sings it quite beautifully. Another extraordinary highlight brilliantly captured. Buy it, for this alone. Of the fillers, the stand-out is a splendid rendering of Desolation Row from the previous night in Karlstad.
