BOB DYLAN : KNIGHT OF THE HURRICANE |
|
Disc One
Disc Two
Label : Razor's Edge Venue : Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, USA Date : December 8, 1975 Quality : Audience Recording (A+) Review (Bob's Boots) : This is an audience recording done with mid-1970s amateur equipment, but don't let that throw you. This is one of the best quality Rolling Thunder shows available. The vocals are up front, warm, and clear. The band is well mixed and flowing & tumbling down in the groove with a unique folk-rock rolling thunder sound that has not been captured since the tour. The Desire material is fresh and powerful with the unmistakable violin of Scarlet Rivera. The package aesthetics are tastefully done in black and white with period photos. A Rolling Thunder venue is essential for any collection. While I prefer the Boston show from a couple of weeks earlier, this MSG show is as good, & there are those, I'm sure, that would choose it as the favorite. Note : the sound problems on the end of disc 2 also occur on the complete Night Of The Hurricane (The Real Bootleg Series Vol. 1). Probably something went wrong in the transfer process. Review (Monicasdude) : "Knight Of The Hurricane" is generally regarded as the preferred version of this show. However, many versions of that recording have an unexplained cut in "Hattie Carroll," as do all the common knockoffs of that release. The original recording of this concert, unfortunately, has a significant sonic downgrade on the last two tracks, as the original tape is flawed (reportedly because the taper's batteries were failing). The many available editions of this show often circulate under incorrect titles, and different projects have circulated with the same title. |
