Review : Austin 2026 documents the opening night of the Long Hot Summer Tour's third leg at the Moody Amphitheater, notable as Joel Paterson's first show as Dylan's guitarist, stepping in with Bob Britt, Doug Lancio and Julian Lage all absent this time out, the latter sidelined by a scheduling conflict in New York. The band, led once more by Dylan on electric keyboard, opens with the familiar run of "Watching The River Flow," "Man In The Long Black Coat" and "It Ain't Me, Babe," before "Tryin' To Get To Heaven" makes a welcome appearance in place of the usual "I Contain Multitudes" slot, giving this show a slightly different shape from the rest of the run. "False Prophet" and the blues staples "I Can Tell" and "Share Your Love With Me" carry the set into its middle stretch, while "Crossing The Rubicon" and "Soon After Midnight" anchor the back half before "Under The Red Sky" turns up as a rewarding rarity. The tour-standard "Goodbye Jimmy Reed" leads into a closing "Every Grain Of Sand." Recorded from the audience at this outdoor Austin venue, the tape captures a new lineup finding its footing on night one, with a rougher, less settled mix than the shows that would follow later in the week.
