"Party noises Pittsburgh!" Springsteen greeted the sold-out crowd Tuesday night before quickly catching the mistake and correcting it. "And Cleveland too!" From there, the 66-year-old rocker and his fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, The E Street Band, powered through more than 30 songs from his "The Ties That Bind: The River Collection" box set including classics like "Dancing in the Dark and "Born to Run." "Bruce Springsteen and the guys (and gal) in the E Street Band must mainline energy drinks. There's no other way they could maintain the level of enthusiasm that rocked Quicken Loans Arena for more than three hours Tuesday night," The Plain Dealer's Chuck Yarborough wrote. It was during "Dancing in the Dark" that the Boss noticed Youngstown superfan Scott Williams in the crowd, later inviting him on stage to play guitar and dance. |
